On the other hand, there's my four-year-old daughter. A few days ago when it started snowing she pounded on the window; she was so angry. She told me she wants winter to be over because she wants to go to the pool. To get in the mood, she's been wearing her swimsuit in the bathtub. She's also been wearing sunglasses, even though the days are cloudy and overcast.
When I told our neighbor she said, "Well, she's such a summer girl. She's always in skirts, even in the winter. I've even seen her barefoot in the snow."
Yep, that's my girl. Today she was leaving the house in a pair of strappy sandals. It wasn't until she noticed the snow was about four inches deep that she returned inside for her boots. She still wore a short skirt. And a coat? Well, it wasn't "zipped." I carried it for her, just in case she'd need it.

Did you see that feature on the news tonight about that whatever-it-was germ in the swimming pools last summer? Better prepare her for no swimming this year.
I have been looking forward myself to flip flop days even though we have no snow!

I agree with your daughter. I'm done with the snow. I am very ready for summer to be here, however, I don't walk in the snow in strappy sandals. I just don't like being cold.

By the way - I blogsurfed in here from whence I don't remember, but I do remember that it was after checking in on one of my zillion "kids". You see, I'm like an old stray dog - once you pet me, you are stuck with me for life! LOL! And since we have so much in common, I hope you don't mind my checking back in on you from time to time.

I love your daughter's spirit. I wear flip flops in the winter (it's the south, we're all a little tetched down here!)...she sounds like a smart girl, when things don't go like you want, MAKE it happen!!! Jennifer

When we lived in Utah, I used to wear open backed shoes. The only problem is you get kind of cold and wet.
But I was pregnant at the time and I couldn't really bend over to tie shoes so I had to wear shoes that I could just slip on. I wish I could claim I was as tough as your daughter. But no, I was just lazy.
One of my kids wore a singlet and tiny shorts on his birthday (a very hot August) when he was little. He wore the same thing - OK, he changed the items for cleanliness, but not the style - for nearly four months! The other kids would be playing outside with coats on, or layers of sweaters, and he'd still be in his "birthday suit"(lol) - barefoot, too.
He's 24 now, tall and broad, and carries sunshine with him.

Ahhh, I'm not the only one who can't force her children into coats in the winter!! Oh the comments I receive from the nursery at church, my mom, OTHER various moms... We park right outside the door, they run into the classroom in 3 seconds flat!
I guess I have Summer Boys. Is THAT why they keep finding the goggles and asking to go swimming. Thank you SO much for clearing that up!
